I know some of you are still hurting from Kim's shenanigans. I see from the news these scams come and go all the time. Sometimes people even go to prison, but the wheels grind slowly.

I continue to try to earn income from the internet, I still believe in it, but this experience has made me ultra careful, as it should you. I do lots of research before doing business with anyone or any business. In this respect google is your best friend.

Some tips:

Search by the business name with the words "scam", "complaints", "problems", etc. appended to the name, for instance "ymmss scam", "ymmss complaints", and so one.

Check them out on the BBB(better business bureau). You can look up business who just have a website as well as a physical store. Now, every business gets complaints, it's how they deal with them that matters. If I can't find a business there, then that is a red flag to me. I know some start-ups might not be there and they might be quite honest, but you have to protect yourself.

This is good practice even when just buying a product much less than going into business with someone.

I have always been watching for a program with a straight line
structure similar to the YMMSS program which ran for 2 years and which

7 indicted in elaborate Ponzi scheme

RALEIGH (AP) — Seven people have been indicted in an elaborate Ponzi scheme that federal prosecutors said took about $70 million from people seeking retirement investments.

The five men and two women are accused of using false and misleading statements to trick people seeking financially secure retirement investments between 2001 and 2004, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Raleigh.

The scheme promised an annual return of nearly 13½ percent to investors purchasing $20,000 shares in Mobile Billboards of America, a truck-mounted billboard company. Investors, including many from North Carolina, were paid from money received from new investors instead of billboard-advertising revenue, according to court documents.

The indictment, unsealed last week, names Arthur J. Anderson Jr. of Raleigh; Scott Hollenbeck, who lived in Kernersville before moving to Florida; Michael A. Lomas of Pasadena, Calif.; Barry C. Maloney of Bethesda, Md.; Laurinda Holohan of Concord, Ohio; Susan Knight of Eastlake, Ohio; and Michael L. Young, who lives abroad.

Each defendant is charged with one count of conspiracy and 17 counts of mail fraud.

Lomas and Young formed the company, Maloney gave legal advice, and Holohan and Knight handled accounting, according to the indictment. Hollenbeck, who faces an Aug. 6 hearing in Raleigh federal court, and Anderson were salesmen.

Hollenbeck, Young, Holohan, Knight and Anderson couldn't be reached for comment by the Winston-Salem Journal. Maloney declined comment, and Lomas' lawyer said his client was cooperating with investigators.

Didn't find any news, but did find a letter from him to the FTC about some spam ruling. Not saying he is a spammer, but draw your own conclusions. I apologize in advance if there are more than 1 "Ulf Enterprise", but I don't think so considering I found "Ulf Astrom", who wrote the letter with some positions too. This appears to be a common theme in the table, positions under multiple, similar names, family etc.

Some time in the last couple of years somebody in the ymmss forum on matrixwatch(I can't remember who, otherwise I would give them credit) had possession of a spreadsheet listing YM members positions in the program. It included one line for each position, date, name, gross output, and payout option of that position. The latest date on the table was May 2004, but that probably was the height of the YM scam and so I consider the information most accurate for it's timeliness. I have loaded this spreadsheet into a SQL table and will be doing some analysis and cross-referencing names with news and searches on the internet.

4 guilty of fraud netting millions

They spent lavishly, shelling out millions of dollars for the historic Redstone Castle near Aspen, eight NASCAR race cars and other items.

One problem: The money wasn't theirs to spend.

On Tuesday, a federal jury in Denver convicted the four businessmen on multiple fraud charges in connection with a high-yield investment scam that bilked more than 1,000 investors out of $56 million. Each faces years in prison and thousands of dollars in fines.

"I like that," victim Dorinda Bellas said when told of the verdict. "They didn't have any qualms about taking our money, so, hey, payback's a bitch."

Bellas, a Golden resident, said she invested $10,000 with the group, who told her they had World War II-era German war bonds that could be worth a fortune.

"Investment schemes, such as the one the defendants were found guilty of operating today, involve empty promises, and no real financial returns," said a statement from U.S. Attorney Troy Eid, who was at the Denver federal courthouse for the verdict.

Marana woman sues scrutinized investment firm

A Marana woman has sued a Dove Mountain man already under investigation by the state for allegedly operating a Ponzi scheme.

Rosario Trask on May 7 filed the lawsuit in Pima County Superior Court, eight months after the Arizona Corporation Commission issued a cease-and-desist order to stop Michael Hannan and his 12 Percent Fund from soliciting investors.

The state alleges that Hannan already had or was about to commit fraud.

Since 2003, Hannan has promised a 12-percent return on minimum $50,000 investments in his fund. He lives in Heritage Highlands.

Between February 2005 and May 2006, Trask invested $275,000 in the fund, managed by Hannan’s company Coyote Growth Management, which is also named in the cease-and-desist order.

Trask learned about Hannan’s previous financial misconduct and the state’s cease-and-desist order from reading a Feb. 14 story in the EXPLORER. She requested in writing that Hannan return all of the money she had invested in the fund.

Hannan has refused to give any money back, according to court records.

Some investment scams prey on charity and some prey on greed, but they all rely on deception, according to the Alabama Securities Commission, which last week released its annual list of the 10 biggest investor traps.

ASC Director Joseph Borg said the list reflects the investment scams that cost Alabama residents the most each year.

He said his office does not estimate how much money scams take each year, but he said national estimates put the cost at $40 billion annually.

The most popular scams in Alabama prey on the victims' religion, he said.

Those rip-offs, called affinity frauds, often being when the scam artists befriends a church leader such as a preacher or deacon. Once the leader invests and recommends the investment, other church members are likely to follow.

Borg said these frauds are particularly effective when the victims think part of the profit will benefit the church.

Affinity frauds are not limited to churches, but also can strike at members of ethnic, cultural and professional groups.

"In our state, it is mostly religious," Borg said. Pyramid schemes, where money from later investors is used to pay off earlier investors, are common in this type of fraud.

"I have seen more money stolen in the name of God than anything else," Borg said.

He said investigating investment fraud is difficult because victims often are afraid to come forward because they think the investment failed because of their lack of faith.

"They won't come forward because they think we are interfering with God's plan," he said.

Affinity scams rely on a person's charity and depend on putting the victim's mind at ease by gaining a leader's trust first.

Most of the scams on the ASC list take advantage of a person's greed and make themselves credible in other ways.

"The best scams are ripped right out of the headlines," Borg said. "You have to present a realistic-sounding opportunity."

The hottest opportunity from today's headlines is an oil and gas scam. Rising energy prices make victims quicker to invest in risky petroleum ventures, Borg said.

At best, the scammers are unlicensed and unqualified, at worst they plan to take the money and run. Either way, Borg said, investing in such ventures is usually unfit for novice investors.

Other scams that focus on sounding like legitimate investments are based on foreign exchange trading, prime bank schemes, private securities offerings and real estate investment.

In most of those scams, the investor is drawn in by a promise that could be legitimate, but is based instead on false information. Scam artists almost never have proper credentials to sell the security but are looking for easy victims.

A fast-growing scam category is Internet-based scams. The Web allows scammers to reach victims much faster and makes tracing the scam more difficult.

Investors should be wary of investment pitches in unsolicited e-mails and other electronic communications.

Other scams offer investments that might be right for some investors but entirely wrong for others. Yet others prey on victims through investment seminars and through unregistered products.

Many of those are targeted at older individuals who may not have saved enough for retirement and are trying to catch up, Borg said.

"They have retirement looking and are approached by someone offering a 20 percent return," he said. "They get blinded by the need to catch up."

Most scam victims have lost their money by the time they realize they are being ripped-off, Borg said.

That's why he urged investors to call his office at 1-800-222-1253 before investing through any solicitation. He said investors should ask whether the person and the product are properly registered and licensed.

If someone suspects they are being ripped off, Borg said they should report it without delay to allow the ASC to stop the scam, prevent others from being scammed and recover assets.

The reload scam did not make the list, but Borg said it is always a threat. In that scam, scammers approach victims twice, often promising to help recoup the money lost on the first scam.

"When people get desperate, they don't think logically," he said. "Reload scams can be very successful."

TCoast man who bilked elderly out of millions gets 30 years

Answer Guy had never heard of Legisi.com before your letter, and the company doesn't disclose a lot of information about itself on its Web site.

Local car dealer accused in Ponzi scheme (Florida)

DAYTONA BEACH -- A federal judge has issued an injunction against a Daytona Beach automobile dealer as the Securities and Exchange Commission pursues claims he swindled $21 million from about 200 investors nationwide in a Ponzi scheme.

U.S. District Court Judge Anne C. Conway directed Michael R. Bretzel and two of his investment companies to stop violating Securities Act provisions against investment fraud. However, she refused to issue a similar order against Lawrence D. Ford II, Bretzel's business associate, and to freeze both men's assets.

In a civil lawsuit filed April 12 in Orlando by the Securities and Exchange Commission, regulators challenged the way Bretzel, 41, Ormond Beach and Ford, 48, Daytona Beach, ran two investment funds, the Real Estate Fund and Heritage Funding Group.

The suit alleged Heritage, founded by Bretzel and headed by Ford, has collected $13 million from 146 investors since 2003 to buy installment loans on used cars. The investments were supposed to pay interest of 15 percent for terms of one to five years.

However, $3.6 million in investor money ended up being loaned to Liberty Automotive Group, Dealer Lot Management Inc. and other Daytona Beach businesses owned by Bretzel. In 2005 and 2006, Heritage used money coming in from new investors to pay interest owed to earlier backers, the suit charged. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February.

The Real Estate Fund, which solicited $7.6 million from 70 investors, loaned $1.38 million of that to Bretzel, Ford and their companies, including Coastal Properties of Daytona Beach. With some of its money being used to pay returns to earlier investors, the fund has defaulted on at least five of its mortgages and is trying to sell off its holdings, the lawsuit states.

The judge denied the SEC's request for a court-appointed receiver to take control of the Real Estate Fund and preserve its assets for investors. She also refused to issue an order requiring the submission of financial records.

No trial date has been set for the lawsuit.

Bretzel said he was gratified the judge ruled there was no emergency requiring a receivership. "We're cooperating fully," he said.

He blamed the investment losses on "the bottom falling out of the local real estate market," coupled with rising taxes and insurance costs.

An SEC representative declined to comment about the case.

Man convicted of fraud (from my neck of the woods)

A federal jury convicted a former Colleyville resident on all 19 counts of an indictment related to a pyramid investment scheme he operated, U.S. Attorney Richard Roper said Friday.

After an eight-day trial, the jury convicted James Ray Phipps, 59, of mail fraud, wire fraud, money laundering and tax-related charges.

Carlton McLarty, a lawyer for Mr. Phipps, said there was a "very high likelihood" his client would appeal.

Federal prosecutors said Mr. Phipps ran an elaborate pyramid scheme known as "Life Without Debt" from June 1996 through June 2006. He worked out of his Colleyville home until 2001, when he moved to Alabama.

Mr. Phipps is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 22.

Every once in a while I go to google news and search on ponzi scam, pyramid scheme, etc., hoping of course to see Kimmy has been taken down. No luck yet on that part, but it is amazing how many do get prosecuted. Makes you wonder if there is just so much of it going on that it is just taking a while for them to get around to Mr. Inman.

I see on matrixwatch that Alan Hughes has been ranting and raving on the YM forums and likely getting banned soon. He is talking about how Kim doesn't care and that YM is just a bad movie etc. Here is the same guy that was a thorn in my side when I was trying to exercise a little free speech on the forums. So the wheels grind slow sometimes, but they do grind. I am not as forgiving as some on matrixwatch who would invite him with open arms. I consider him as guilty as Kim Inman, Stephen Rose, and others.

It is hard to believe he feels this way about Kim, they look like best buds here:

I was looking through the internet this morning as I'm apt to do and found this free acronym dictionary. It had a listing for YMMSS with the definition being as you might expect "Your Money Machine Success System"

What was funny to me was the "related" scam ads surrounding it, see this screenshot or go look for yourself.

Sounds like an old joke; "If you look in the dictionary for the word scammer it would have a picture in Kim Inman".

Like anyone has any money left to pay for that. Inman already screwed them out of whatever nest egg they had, now he is trying to get their monthly too.

Interestingly enough miquotes is a member of the BBB and has a satisfactory record dealing with complaints.

I wonder if they know the type of scum they are dealing with Kim Inman and the other YMMSS grifters. Maybe someone should let them know.

I have been so busy since I got back to work, I have had little time for this blog.

Also it seems there is little happening in the case. Kim Inman continues to rip people off, there seem to be many who still believe in him even though he has broken promise after promise. I actually feel sorry for these people. I can't imagine going through life being that gullible. Getting taken is one thing, but then when you are faced with the facts and you continue to believe that is just sad. These people are just in denial.

Go to matrixwatch, join the movement. Some good people there.

There are still a few people still actively actively buying EPC or whatever they are called now adays. So, I want to do a servious for them and tell them how they can either make more money in 30 minutes worth of work now without needing to invest 10s of thousands of dollars, or how to make more money investing only $10. Any contributions would be appreciated, however, please try to be helpful.

1. 30 minutes of cleaning ur car. Check under rugs, or in cup holders or anywhere else coins might have fallen. Between seats is always good. If you cant find anything any week, check the ash trey or if u have a seperate coin holder and count up that change. Save that change for next week so you can make that amount over and over again.

2. 30 minutes cleaning. I started to clean my room. Found a quarter and dime so far. Im sure I will find alot more, especially where my pants congregate after a hard days work. However, its going to take plenty of weeks to clean my room only cleaning 30 mnutes a day.

3. Laundry. Today I found probably around 2 bucks. But, I found a $.50 piece that I got in change the other day (I hate those suckers but it is different) and 2 pieces of cany still in the shrink wrapped wrapper, so I had those also (they were hard candy so still edible). Will STA give u candy?

4. Find a school, a community college, a college, or something that is not more then 10 minutes out of your way. Find the busiest place where kids hang out, and after work when nobody is there dig thru the garbage cans for 5 mins to recycle cans. 10 mins there, 10 mins back, 5 mins recycling cans, and all u need to do is spend 5 minutes cashing in the cans.

5. Dont want to garbage pick? Take the $10 and buy 4 12 packs of soda when they are on sale. YOu can get $0.025 (whichi is still 10x more then each $10 invested in STA) per can to recycle them , so 48 cans will net you $1.20 if my math is right. Just try to drink the soda in less then 30 mins total (try to average a total of 45 seconds per can holding the can and drinking it. If you save part of the can for later, you dont need to include that time. Use a stop watch if you must). If you do this every week you are saving about $5,000, the cost it would take to make your money reading ads.

6. If you like reading ads, get the sunday paper, and spend 30 minutes looking for a coupon you will use. you are still reading ads, but if you use more then 1 coupon you can make alot of money that way. (I have said this time and again, but it is so true)

7. Beg a coworker or a friend, or stand out on the street for 30 minutes a week asking for a single penny from anybody who will listen. Inform them that that one penny is 4x the amount you were getting paid per hour from your previous job.

Well, folks it looks like my posts here may become more sporadic that usual here soon. I have to go in for back surgery and as evil as Kim is I have to draw the line at believing him capable of voodoo though it is humorous to think of him sticking pins in a little steve_o doll though what he would make it look like I have no idea.

On a separate, but related issue I find it rather poignant on a day of celebration on the birth of my nation to think how lucky I am to live in a country with access to the type of healthcare that could at least attempt to relieve me of my back problem. In many other parts of the world I would have no choice but to live with this condition most likely for what would be a short and painful life.

I created this YM forum. I am not trying to compete with MW, but just give people an outlet to blow off some steam. Doesn't seem to be the speediest site in the world and I don't know if anybody will even use it. But if someone wants to drop a post in there feel free. Or go create your own forum. I encourage people to get involved with all the free stuff on the internet. It can be a lot of fun and it is educational even if it is frustrating at times.

It's funny to see them talk about how all rights are reserved on the conference call minutes etc. If it was a legitimate business they would want the added exposure wouldn't they?

I didn't get much past that. Listening to them talk about how they have all this innovative software and ideas about advertising like they have discovered the inside track just made me sick. It's ridiculous. There are other companies who have been doing it for years. And they do it better and they get it out on time.

The only thing YM has ever done ahead of schedule was get rid of the claim via website option.

I think we may possibly be into the end game phase of Kim's operation. With the selling of the resort he may be on his way out. He may even be looking to move from Belize and quietly retire into a secluded life of leisure living off our money. He probably has enough he could buy his on island.

There is a thread on matrixwatch mentioning that Kim has sold the Belize resort. A few things pop into my mind:

1) He is liquidating assets for the eventual flee to parts unknown and the eventual and inevitable shutdown of YM/STA.

2) Hoping to keep people hooked a little longer he will use the funds from the sale to pump up the RFA for a few weeks.

3) He will use the funds to magically make the infamous 19 million show up though I have no idea how much the resort is worth plus I can't believe Kim would part with any money.

4) "We" never owned it at all, and our lease is up.

I know. Your friends or family that got you into this are telling you to wait, things will turn around. Sorry, the only way they have turned is down. They have made money off of it. Of course they are fine with it. They aren't bad people, they thought they were giving you a good tip. But the fact is you/I/we got in too late.

Your best option is to go to the MatrixWatch YMMSS Forum and join the movement. File complaints. Forget my personal feelings about one mod and a member over there. Overall they are trying to do the right thing and we all need your help.

My theory is that it is probably just a cycle (oooh, sorry about that word) thing. As time passes and the income doesn't rise dramatically more and more people get discouraged and stop reading. YM/STA dutifully comes through after a while and inactivates their accounts. Then has a smaller base of people to pay out to the next week. Income jump, if you can call a few more pennies a jump.

Then the payouts start to fall again, more people get discouraged, stop reading, round and round.

But, it's just a theory.

from the outside. Of course I am not privy to what goes on inside any longer nor have I tried to sign up under a bogus name. But if the couple forums open to the public are any indication it must be a ghost town on the inside. I half expected to see tumble weeds rolling through my screen.

There was even someone asking where all the testimonials were and the only latest one was bragging about getting soup. This has to be the height of denial. Go into a business thinking you are going to retire, now they are happy to get soup. Maybe that is how people during the depression felt.
